Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Good general health, adequate physical mobility including, but not limited to: working in a standing position for extended periods of time, lifting up to fifty (50) pounds, carrying moderate weight , walking, balancing, bending, kneeling and reaching, exerting adequate force to push/pull, etc.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Work as a productive team member with co-workers and administrators
  • Effective communication skills
  • Demonstrate a helpful attitude and willingness to assist others
  • Neat in appearance and follow dress code
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Good attendance and work record at previous employment
  • Valid Alabama Driver’s License
  • Demonstration and record of sound moral character
  • Meet background clearance requirements
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calhoun County Board of Education deems appropriate
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Maintain facility to provide a safe, clean, and sanitary environment for students, school employees, and community to work and study
  • Follow established work hours and demonstrate regular and punctual attendance
  • Keep records as required
  • Assist in maintaining the inventory of custodial supplies
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wax floors according to established schedules and procedures
  • Empty trash cans at least once daily
  • Maintain restrooms with paper products and soap
  • Clean floors, mirrors, sinks, toilets, and urinals daily
  • Keep grounds free of paper and litter
  • Clean outside entrances, walkways, sidewalks, rugs, etc.
  • Perform duties in a courteous and professional manner that promotes good public relations
  • Attend meetings and in-service presentations as required
  • Maintain proper and professional relationships with students and other employees
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding workplace matters
  • Carry out delegated responsibilities with a minimum of supervision
  • Provide assistance to others when able
  • Move furniture or equipment within buildings as directed by the principal/director
  • Assist in setting up and cleaning before and after special programs as assigned
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and integrity
  • Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities
  • Maintain acceptable health and safety standards regarding the use of cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, etc.
  • Be familiar with and follow Calhoun County Board of Education policies
  • Other duties as assigned
Length of Contract/Terms:
240 Days / 8 Hours daily

Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
