Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Unquestionable character
  • Experience in food service and/or preparation preferred
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Good attendance and work record at previous employment
  • Positive attitude

  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to perform several tasks simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Adequate physical mobility including, but not limited to: working in a standing position for extended periods of time, lifting and/or carrying moderate weight daily, walking, balancing, bending, kneeling and reaching, exerting adequate force to push/pull, etc.
  • Capable of working in an environment which may include, but is not limited to: slippery surfaces, prolonged periods with hands in water, approved cleaning supplies, common food allergies, extreme hot or cold temperatures, etc.
  • Valid Alabama Driver’s License
  • Meet background clearance requirements
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calhoun County Board of Education deems appropriate
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Perform work in the school food service facility in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and serve food as assigned.
  • Perform custodial, dish room, and/or storeroom duties as assigned.
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation and work safety.
  • Exhibit good hygiene and dress appropriately.
  • Operate and maintain food service equipment in a safe and skillful manner.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with manager and other employees.
  • Demonstrate cordial and professional service to students and others.
  • Assume any position in the department as directed by the manager.
  • Maintain records and reports as required by the manager.
  • Communicate effectively with the public, staff members, students, parents, administrators and other contact persons using tact and good judgment.
  • Follow attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules.
  • Ensure adherence to good safety standards
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
  • Model and maintain high ethical standards.
  • Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain expertise in the assigned area to fulfill project goals and objectives.
  • Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment.
  • Keep the supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
  • Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Length of Contract/Terms:
183 days / 6 hours
